FleXtalent

Personally, together and as organisations we need to build resilience and flexibility to be successful both economically and for all our health and well-being.

Flexible working
Good for business? It depends, not all roles can be, but yes for more and more roles this works well for workers and businesses it works really well. From a business perspective it can be a great solution for building value and organisational capability and of course for attracting, engaging, and retaining talent. The value of flexibility personally, for building teams and for agile organisations delivering business performance is a strategic issue for improving business performance and providing competitive advantage as technology enables so much more.

Flexible working and the law
In the UK (rules different in Northern Ireland) all employees have the legal right to request flexible working, it’s not just for parents and carers. All Employees must have worked for the same employer for at least 26 weeks to be eligible before statutory application. All employers must deal with requests in a ‘reasonable manner’. Which means assessing the advantages and disadvantages of the application, holding a meeting to discuss the request with the applicant and offering an appeals process.
